Too much ado about names :)

When I gave birth to my first child... hubby and I wanted to give her a very simple name. Senang!! Tak yah penat tangan tulis nama panjang2 masa isi borang :) We chose Izzaty cause hubby wanted to have 'izz' at the front... sempena my nickname :)

Then 3 years later, when I got a son... I wanted to give him the name "Irsyad" but hubby insisted to have 'iz' again! He wanted to use the name 'Izmir'... tapi tak jumpa la pulak meaning nama tu in Arabic. So he chose 'Izhar'. Errr.... I have nothing against the meaning of Izhar (terang lagi nyata) but... I have a very personal reason for not liking the combination of 'iz' and 'har'. Those who know my history would understand I guess... cause I used to 'date' someone by the name '**har'! :P Anyway, yang pergi register nama tu nanti would be darling hubby right? So punya la takut dia register nama 'Izhar' tu... I relented and decided to chose the name 'Izzat'... easy eh? The male version of his sister's name.... and still have 'izz' in the front... so hubby had no reason to reject the name! Everyone's happy... hehe :)

Izzaty Razak and Izzat Razak... sounds easy kan? And yet... the similarities of their names made some people confused! When I was still on my 60 days maternity leaves, I went to Maybank Rawang to open a Yippie account for Izzat. When I submited the application, the teller at the counter said "Eh Kak.... akak dah bukak account utk anak akak ni!". And I was like "Eh?? Mana ada?? Tu kakak dia lah.. Izzaty!". And the lady laughed... "Ya Allah.. sorry kak!! Confuse saya!". Okay... that was the first!!

Throughout the years... ada lah some minor confusions lagi between Izzaty and Izzat nih.... tapi not so bad lah. But last night.... hmm..... MAJOR confusion I'd say! Hubby went outstation to Kuantan, so that left me to go hantar and jemput the kids to Kumon class. When I was waiting for the kids to finish class... I saw this bunting at Ms Jaya Kumon center... I saw my kids pics. Tapi tak perasan apa2 lagi mula2 tu. Then when Izzat finished his class... he came over to me and asked.. "Mama perasan tak nama dia dah bertukar??" Eh?? I quickly looked closely....
OMG!!! How come they make the mistake???? Izzaty jadi Izzat... and Izzat jadi Izzaty???? Male and female pun boleh confuse ke??? Aduhai... sabor je lah!! Ms Jaya came over when she saw me taking this picture... and I asked her 'How come they mistakenly labeled their names wrongly??" and she explained "Puan Runiza, I have faxed them earlier to notify their error... but still they printed it wrongly! I was so upset with the Kumon HQ". Oh well.... I have no comment. I do not want to make noise about this small thing.. :)

But Izzaty was so upset.... hehehe. Poor girl... :)

Things to do before 2010!

2009 is coming to the end. Yesterday when I was attending a project progress meeting, I was reminded by the project manager that we'll be working for 4 days in a week till end of the year. Plus the fact that we are all moving to Menara Maybank on the 2nd week of January!! (Aiyooo... I don't like!!! :P) And at the same time, I also have a few other projects that need my attention. Hence, it's quite difficult for me to meet the dateline for this particular project... *sigh!*. I requested the project to be extended for another month (am quite confident we could finish the project development earlier.. but better not take any chance!! :P). Aiyooo.. so many things to do!!!

Anyway, wohooooo!!!! Friday would be holiday for 3 weeks in a row!! - 1st week is Maal Hijrah, 2nd week is X'mas and 3rd is New Year!!! :) Have already made plan for all those long weekends.

This weekend, we'll be staying at Berjaya Times Square Hotel on Saturday night as I am attending the OGA Dinner.... (A friend SMSed me yesterday to remind me that I need to be active in OGA if I want my daughter to enter tkc in 2012... huhu! Thanks Has... for the gentle reminder! Love you!). Izzaty will be attending a 'Kem Jati Diri' next Monday till Wednesday... hmm... that's remind me.. I need to check her bag if she has everything packed!

2nd weekend (X'mas weekend)... is balik kampung time!! Hubby misses her kampung!! :P

3rd weekend... is Izzat's birthday!!! The new year boy would be 8 soon :) Have not made any plan yet... his bday gift (and Izzaty's 11th b'day gift - her b'day on 8th Jan!) would be a trip to Hong Kong at the end of January 2010 (yeay... another vacation!!! But again... reminds me that I need to finish that particular project before this particular vacation first!! :P). May be we can go jalan2 cari makan on Izzat's bday for a small celebration... Pizza Hut may be? :) Can't go to expensive restaurants dearest.... need to save money okay.. for this HK trip!! :P

And the kids' school books and stationaries are all not ready yet.... mama is yet to help the kids wrapping their text books!! Have bibik sewn their school badges on their new school uniforms??? Hmmm...... all those need to be done before 2010!!! :P

Qhatam Al Quran di Paya Jaras

Mak Ngah ku menjemput utk majlis Qhatam Al Quran buat cucu2nya... plus kenduri arwah on 6th of Dec '09. Was informed about it before our trip lagi! Then a few days before the kenduri, my mom asked if Izzaty would like to join the Qhatam Al Quran... ingatkan biasa2 aje.. so setuju ajer lah.

Then on Saturday (a day before the kenduri), my cousin called to inform on all the surah that Izzaty need to recite.... and I was like EHH?? MasyaAllah...baru compute masa tu!!! Rupanya majlis besar-besaran jugak nih!! Siap dia suruh Izzaty pakai jubah cantik2 for that occasion.... aduhhh... macam pengantin la pulak... :)

Ni je gambar yang sempat diambil..

Izzaty and her 2nd cousins and Pak Long Li on the majlis Qhatam Al Quran..
From right : My cousin Abang Li, Muiz, Ain, Izzaty and Wa. (All except Izzaty are my cousin Abang Li's kids... such wonderful kids! Subhanallah... pandai Ustad Li jaga!)

Middle East Trip - Part 3 (Jordan)

27/11/09 (cont.)
When we reached our hotel in Amman, it's already dark. Everyone was hungry... so we went for jalan-jalan cari makan around the downtown of Amman.. :)

Welcome to Jordan kids :)

King Hussein Mosque in Amman downtown..

More on the King Hussein Mosque..

Fast meal... the local fast food restaurant... quite nice! Ala2 Mc D and KFC la gitu.. :)

Nampak tangga ni... teringat citer 'Nur Kasih'... we missed the final episode which was aired on the same night this picture was taken..... :P

Bought a few interesting souvenirs at his small shop...

Our original plan was to spent 1 night in Amman.. then the next day we plan to cross the border to Jerusalam. Berhajat sangat nak tunaikan solat di Masjid Al Aqsa. That night hubby called our Jordan's travel agent that was supposed to guide us to Jerusalam but we were informed that the border to Jerusalam was closed for a few days due to the Eid celebration. Aduhhh.... nak geram pun ada... sebab aritu before datang pernah dah tanya if the gate would be closed during Eid... but the agent bersungguh2 convinced us not to worry as the gate would not closed... ciss!! Nak buat camana kan... the agent said he'd update us on the latest news the day after tomorrow... aduuuhh... sabar je lah. So we decided to go to Petra the next day...

28/11/09
The Palace hotel arranged for a taxi driver to send us to Petra. The driver waited for us at the hotel lobby around 7pm at the hotel lobby... and off we went to Petra... woohoo!! :)

Welcome to Petra!!! So excited!!! :)

Waiting for Ayah to get tickets...

The entrance tickets... :)

Aiyooohh... we had to walk quite a distance to see the famous spectacular rose-stone city of Petra!! Penat siut! No kidding!!

The kids got the chance to ride a horse.... and their parents had to walk... (urgh.. life is so unfair, eh? :P )

Kids enjoying the horse ride :)

Kids had to walk now.... we had to walk for quite a distance.... phew! But the experience of walking between the sandstone cliffs.... AWESOME!! :)

More walking... between the rocks and cliff...

Watch out for the horse carriage.... !! Walk slowly dears... (macam dah kepenatan je kids tu)

Almost there!! Dah nampak sket Al-Khazneh dari celah2 batu tu...

Finally!! I saw it then with my own eyes!!!
THE famous Al-Khazneh in Petra, Jordan.
I often saw the photos in internet, books and movies... could not believed that I was finally there!!!! Such an amazing structure! Built in the 3rd century BC by the Nabataens, who carved palaces, temples, tombs, ect.. from the sandstone cliffs... amazing!! :)

Al-Khazneh - So grand!!

Policeman!!???? Sungguh bergaya! :)

Tired after the long walk... rest kejap... eating breads and biscuits! See how lapaq Izzat was!

Mommy and Izzat :)

Izzaty and a local Arab-Badwi..

Petra is so huge!! More walking!!

Oh... Izzaty's TY Bear was in Petra too! :)

Berkilo2 meter berjalan.... penat.. but such an amazing experience!
Then.... lepas kepenatan... nak balik..had to make aU-turn to exit (same route as we entered!)... arghh.. jalan lagi!!

One family pic before we leave Petra..

Leaving Petra.... GOOD BYE Petra... SANGAT PENAT, okay?! But it was such an amazing experience to be there!! :)

We were so tired and hungry... decided to eat first before going back to Amman. Makan 'ayam golek' at this restaurant in Wadi Musa.... sedappp!! hingga menjilat jari!! :)

After 5 whole hours on foot at Petra.... the kids were so tired... lelap dlm taxi on our way back to Amman... *kesian*

Sunset on the way from Petra to Jordan... very, very beautiful!

29/11/09
We waited till 9pm for our travel agent to call... and later he confirmed that the gate to Jerusalam was opened... but very limited time... and atas nasihat agent tu... we decided not to go today... as there were a group of Britain who wanted to cross over to the border... tapi yang Kristian je yang lepas masuk... orang2 Islam tak dibenarkan masuk pulak... boleh pulak macam tu?? tsk.. tsk.. Orang Y*hud* ni... suka hati dia aje!!! :P So to avoid complication... tak jadi lagi cross the border today...

So we decided to go to Madaba, Mount Nebo and Dead Sea today....

Madaba is the most important Christian center in Jordan. It's most famous site is the Mosaic Map in the 19th- century Greek Orthodox St George's Church. The Madaba Mosaic Map is a unique piece of art realised in 6th century A.D. as a decoration for the pavement of the church. The mosaic was later discovered accidentally in 1897 while constructing a new church for the Greek-Orthodox Arab community, which was then settling on the very ruins of the ancient town of Madaba.
Outside St George's Greek Orthodox Church - I hate entering a church (done that a few times when I was in Europe to visit the Vatican City and a few other places) but I really want to see this historical mosaic map!

The mosaic represents the biblical land from Egypt to Lebanon, including Sinai, Israel, Palestine, and Trans-Jordan. Unfortunately the northern part is almost completely lost and the rest suffered a lot of damages.

More on the mosaic map.. once a clear map with 157 captions (in Greek) of all major biblical sites from Lebanon to Egypt.... amazing!

Us and the mosaic map.. I felt so awkward in the church! :P

At Mount Nebo... at the background... On a clear day... you'd see Jerusalam... wallahualam.

Mount Nebo - the place according to Bible, Moses (Nabi Musa) saw the Promised Land... wallahualam.

This Palestine Juice was recommended in the Lonelyplanet.com book... tapi tak de la best mana... masam jer.. :P

That night... hubby called the travel agent for the very last time. He was so frustrated for not being able to go there... he wanted to stay (at first he wanted all of us to stay.. tapi ongkos nya mahal kan.. sebab kena beli new flight tickets.. so I let him stay while me.. and the kids go home.. huhu!) to proceed with this plan of his to go to Jerusalam. I prayed that night that he would make the right decision coz... I myself was a bit worried about hime alone in Israel!! Entah macam mana.... at the very last minute... he decided to follow us home (alhamdulillah! dear God.. I am so thankful!!) So we left Amman that night for Dubai...

At Dubai Airport..
... and later from Dubai.... back to Kay Ell.... wooohoo!! I am so glad to be home!!! There's no place like home... hujan emas di negeri orang.. hujan batu di negeri sendiri... still I love MALAYSIA ;)
