Fund raising for TKWO

As I wrote in my previous post, a storm struck part of the roof of the TKC Grand Hall and the TKWO room which is adjoined to the hall was totally damaged. Lots of music instruments were stored in that room and we are still not sure how much damage and lost had been caused by that incident. The problem is, nobody can enter the ground zero area… so the instruments were left under the hot sun and rain as the roof of the room has fallen down. We are still waiting for JKR to clear the room and see what we can salvage… and I don’t know how long we have to wait -_-

Some WO parents are wondering if the school would be able to get the instruments by end of this year, to ensure the girls can practice for next year WO competition. So, one particular concerned parent – Dato DKAA called for a special meeting to discuss on how to raise fund to revive TKWO for next year competition.

I was not keen to go at the beginning… it was on a working day - Wed, 29th Oct, 12 noon.  But it’s during lunch hour. And the meeting was held at a building in Taman Tasek Perdana… which is like 5 mins drive from my office. Then a F2 WO parent called me - jom la pegikatanya. So I persuaded other asterix mommies to join me as well… Yaya and Nora agreed to join - Suka tau…. Hihi :)))

So yeah… gotto meet the so-famous Dato KAA :D He has been the TOP TOPIC in our Asterix mommies discussion lately… lol!

The attendees of the meeting - from left : Nora, Kak Hani, Shiela, Dato Khairil Anuar Akhirudin (Dato KAA), Dato Dr Hj Yaacob Hussain Merican (Tok Cob), Yaya, Yours Truly, En Rejab, Kak Hekmat, Kak Aleen and Kak Shery.

Yeay... 3 asterix mommies showed up!!

Among the salient points from the meeting :
1.
1. Tun Suffian Foundation agreed to donate RM10K immediately – Alhamdulillah.
2.
2. Tun Suffian Foundation offers to be the platform for contributions since they are able to issue tax exemption receipt  - Alhamdulillah, dipermudahkan lagi.
3.
3. YTM Datuk Dr Sofeah Jewa, the writer of the book “The Return” will contribute minimum of 50  books that will be autographed by DYTM Yg DiPertuan Agung. Each book for a contribution of RM10K (oh wow!)

Eating lunch while eating (to save time) - the famous nasi lemak tangling... Tq Tok Cob!!! Dappppp hihi!

'The Return' - the book that would cost RM10K once it would be autographed by DYTM Yg DiPertuan Agung. But hey, those came to the meeting got this book for free... Yeay! But of course without Agung's autograph -_-.

En Rejab calculating the cost that we need to buy basic new instruments to revive the TKWO for the competition. And guess how much??? RM600++K... And that's just basic instruments okay... The minimum amount -_-

Tok Cob (asterix grandparent you all!!) chairing the meeting with Dato KAA.

Can we raise up to RM600K as per our target?
May Allah ease our task in raising this special fund....

Empty nest again :(

Izzat came home for the Deepavali break.  But his sister did not. Ironic nya, yg dah habis PT3 x balik.... The one with final exam next week lak balik  -_-.

A date with my boys (hubby and son) at Kota Damansara pizzahut after fetching izzat at Hentian Duta bus stand.

On Deepavali day, we visited izzaty for the first time after she finished her PT3. Brought Izzaty and Meera outing to Klia2.
PT3 is sooo over! It's PTFree now...
Yeehaa!! ;D

Lunch at Nando's Klia2!! ;))

Before leaving kolej, sempat tenguk zero ground....
Band room is so badly wrecked!! Kesian the WO gals :(( Met En Rejab who was so hopeful to get all the help he can to ensure tkc will have all the instruments required to practice for next year competition. En Rejab updated me - 'Puan, if we don't have the instruments by end of this year, there will be no band camp and we could not compete next year. And if we don't compete next year, we will be downgraded to division 2'. Oh no... That's not good to the school image. TKC has been in top 10 of division 1 for years!!!! :(((

Anyway, izzat is back in Nibong Tebal now. Mr Hubby went outstation to Pahang. And yours truly is left in an empty house. Nak nangis boleh? :p

Western Hills - Kunming Day4

On our 4th day – our last day in Kunming, we decided to have breakfast in our apartment – we need our morning coffee please…. Not soup! :P Thanks god, DikMa brought some instant coffee! Our plan for the day was to go to Western Hills to visit Dianchi Lake and Dragon Gate.

Western Hills are one of the highlights of Kunming and a must visit when you come here. From the internet, I found out that Western Hills are also called 'Sleeping Buddha Hills', as looked from a distance, they have the appearance of a giant sleeping Buddha. They have also been given another name  'Sleeping Beauty Hills' for the hills when viewed together look like a beautiful young lady lying beside Dianchi Lake with her face upward and her hair trailing into water. By the way, Dianchi Lake is the 6th largest lake in China… so Richard told me.

It’s a long way from bottom to the top to see the Dragon Gate, but I actually enjoyed the hike ;) We took the cable from the lake to the entrance gate (save lots of energy there hihi!). Amazing view from the cable car!
Cik Kiah again - gumbira to start a new adventure!

Richard warned us that there would be about 300 steps to the top. So my aunty and DikMa (and Ika of course!) decided not to join us. Little Sophie was brave enough to join her mom for this adventure! ;) Way to go Sophie!! ;)

And our hike began…

Nice scenery from here...

Guan Gong the Fortune God – the Chinese would touch his gold shoes to get more fortune.

Aiyayaaa…. More stairs…. -_- Caiyok, caiyok Sophie... we can do it!!!

Enjoying the view from top.... it's beautiful! And felt good for being able to be here on top of Western Hill ;)

More and more stairs... :P
At our age... Cik Kiahs mmg mengah la sket nak sampai sini ya... haha!

Richard said ‘Touch the head of the turtle for long life’

And moreeee and moreeeee stairs:P!!! Huhu...

Sophia need to eat something to recharge her energy to climb more stairs :D

Phoenix Rock – also known as Old Stone House

 Dragon gate tunnel

Richard said this is The God of Benevolence. Couples who want to have children would come to pray here.

The Dragon Gate survivor… yeah!!

And I thought that was the end of our journey… but nope…. We have MORE stairs to climb…. Aiyooo
Sophia teman maklang naik tangga ya… kita sama2 crawl kalau penat… hehe

Relax jap ambil nafas... #dahtuadaaa
And the view.... got awsomer and awsomer the higher we get!

Yang ini tak reti nak cerita as I didn 't take note... -_-
I was probably too tired to take note by then.. haha!

Haishh Chopia ni kacau daun maklang nak posing solo :D

And MORE stairs to go…. :P

Yours truly taking a deeeeepppp breath while enjoying the scenery…

Beautiful view from up here

We survived the Dragon Gate hike! Yeehaa!!!

Okay… time to go down… slow and steady. Watch your steps!

Dah sampai bawah… Sophie penatt…. Sophie nak eksrim!!! :D

in cable car on our way down

did you see the golden gate??

We had lunch here in a place called Guan Shang (in Kunming city).

Along choosing the veges and fishes/meat to be cooked.

spring roll aka popia goreng!! My favourite!!! They used kulit wantan instead of our normal kulit popia… sedap gak… hihi!

Lunch… Malaysia style! I like!!

After lunch, we decided to walk to a nearby fruit market...

Haaaippp Ikaa… don’t touch! -_-

Believe it or not, we only got to shop fruits! (and ohh… Ruby and Na sempat sopping toys at one small nearby shop)… that’s all! No souvenirs shopping …. In China??!!! Macam susah nak percaya kanTapi itu lah hakikatnya. Did not find any fridge magnet that has ‘Kunming’ written on it! Kecewa!:P

Straight to the airport after fruit shopping… (yes, that’s the only souvenirs I bought for my colleagues and mr hubby…huhu!) Performed prayer at the airport (yes, there’s a cozy surau at Kunming airport) before flying home…

KL tunggu kami pulang….
