Lunch with CS10 '88 buddies

A friend of mine, Isham aka Amoi who is currently residing in Chicago announced that he will be coming back to Malaysia for a short break. His wife, Ain is not joining as their kids are in school but Ain will also be coming back to Malaysia alone for a short break this coming November.

So, Amoi was asking me if I can arrang a mini gathering for our CS10 batch 1988 during lunch in the Menara Maybank area. So yeah.... 8 of us turned up for this mini gathering ;)

The early birds Amoi (in grey shirt), Azwan (in orange) and Hafiz (wearing batik like a YB haha! sorry Hafiz!). Yours truly, Suzy and Asri (not in pic as he is taking this pic) are the Maybankers who are joining this mini gathering.

Venue : Restoran Ayam Kampung Bandaria (where else to go laaa at this area :P)
The 8 who made it for this mini gathering :
Left, from front - Asri, Azwan, Ruzaini aka Bapak and Hafiz the YB :D
Right, from front - Yours truly, Suzy, Ani and Amoi

Makan x hingat dunia... tenguk pinggan I tu tinggal tulang jer... lol! :D

The 3 ladies who came - Ani, Suzi and yours truly

I have never seen Bapak talked so much :D Such a quiet boy once upon a time during our student days. :D
It's good to meet you again Bapak! :)

Such a short meeting.... by 2pm, we are all back in our office... huhu. Tak puas catching up... but alhamdulillah, dapat jumpa kejap pun dah bersyukur... it's really  not easy to meet these guys, I tell you! Hope to meet more of them one day...

A Hijrah

A few months ago, I got an email from our HR Talent Management division to invite me for an interview for a technical job with Maybank Investment. I did not apply for the job, but somehow… was selected for  the position. I went for the interview and it was a success I guess cause I was called again to meet the big boss for the 2nd interview. But somehow, I wasn't very sure if I would be happy with Maybank Investment. One thing for sure, my annual leaves will be deducted to 21 instead of 30… hmm… that's a lot kan? Sangat tidak suka :P

Anyway, on the day that I was supposed to go for the 2nd interview,  I was informed that the big boss was not available… so the interview was postponed. But guess what… on the same day, I was offered by the Maybank Islamic CIO, En Zainal Azlan a position in Maybank Islamic IT which I thought is so cool! Because I've always wanted to run away from the conventional banking (to avoid riba' and all)… so I accepted the offer from Maybank Islamic and called Maybank HR to tell them that I've changed my mind to work with Maybank Investment as I got an offer that I could not resist! It's an Islamic Bank guys… how could I not reject!! I did perform solat tahajud for the past few nights before making decision on my career path and I believe this is the path that was set for me… insyaAllah.

So on Monday, 7th Sept 2015, my new career path began with Maybank Islamic. I am now based in Dataran Maybank again but most of the time, I'll be in Menara Maybank to work with the Maybank IT for Maybank Islamic projects.

Some would say it's a company transfer… but I call it a 'hijrah' :) A hijrah to be a better career woman. A hijrah to be a better Muslimah… insyaAllah ;)

Maybank Global CR Day 2015

This year, Maybank Global CR Day for Maybank Shared Services IDW department was  held at his place...

It is not easy to go to this place... I tell you! It's located behind the Pasar Borong Selayang. The event is on Saturday morning... so you guys can imagine the kiosk that we have to go through to reach this place... huhu.

Before doing anything.... kita isi minyak dulu. Our breakfast that morning - bihun and karipap.

First activity of the day... senam robik!
Dancing to the famous Korean tune 'Nobody' and the famous 'Sakitnya tuh di sini' :D

Some of the residents of  Rumah Amal Cheshire...

After senam robik and speech from Mr Atul and Rumah Amal Cheshire management, the real job began...
I joined the painting team. This place was hit by flood twice causing stains on the building.

I made new friends here...
This lady is only 48! Goodness... just a few years older than me. Made me wonder what will be happening to me when I am that age...

This kakak is from Temerloh. Both her arms are broken... so I helped to feed her lunch... kesian kakak ni... agak2 sapa lah hantar dia sini... huhu

This abang is sooo cool!! ;)) Originally from Kuala Pilah. Met with a fatal accident when he was 21 and not able to walk since the incident. He is the lead singer here... suka berkaraoke katanya. I had a loooong chat with him when he found out I am from Kolo Pilah :)

It was his birthday, and everybody sang birthday song for him...
Berkaraoke after lunch... his hobby.

Getting ready for group photo...
Sitting at the wall that has just been painted - waiving good byes to all Maybankers when we left this place.
Sedih sangat masa ni.... sayu jer tenguk muka dioarng... :((

It's quite an experience. Pengalaman  yang sangat menginsafkan! :((
Made me realized how precious life is.... and how we should appreciate our parents and old folks...
May Allah bless them all....
