Relay For Life

My nephew, Adam and his eldest sister, Sara are supposed to write something in memory of someone close to him for the National Cancer Society Relay for Life involvement. Both Sara and Adam decided to do it this year for their Atuk.. my dad, Arwah Haji Abdul Manaf bin Meon.

I thought that was very sweet of them, cause they didn't get the opportunity to get to know their atuk. My dad passed away when Sara was about 2 months old. She was the youngest cucu he got to see and hold before he passed away back in 1998 due to Pancreatic Cancer.

Below is what Adam wrote in memory of his Atuk Manaf....

Awww Adam.... My heart burst with pride... and I can feel tears in my eyes when I read this... *sob*

Al Fatihah buat ayahanda, Haji Abdul Manaf bin Meon. We love you so much ayah... and we miss you a lot!! We still do... :(

P/S: Sara and Adam's Kong-Kong (their mommy's daddy) was recently diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. He will also be undergoing surgery sometime next month. My prayer for him...

Izzaty's Bird House

This is Izzaty's handcraft... for her Mid Term Art paper.

Good job girl! :) Mama likes!! :)

Cerita bas

In Lucky Hill (nama baru Bukit Beruntung.. haha!) there are only 2 bus companies that provide 'express' service to KL : Starcoach bus and the TM bus. For certain reason.. most people prefer the Starcoach bus.. most probably due to the fact that the starcoach buses are more 'express' (laju siut!) and their service are more frequent in the evening(5.30pm, 6pm, 6.30pm, 7pm and 9pm)... whilst the TM bus are only available at 6pm and 6.30pm.

I personally prefer the TM bus... cause most of my friends are also using the TM bus...(so typical! mesti nak cari gang! hehe). Lagi pun since ramai orang prefer bus starcoach... bus TM ni lebih 'lapang'... and definitely lebih selesa :)

But there are certain days when I had no choice but to take starcoach buses. On the early days of closing of Puduraya... I decided to take the starcoach sebab their 'port' is right infront of my office - depan Mydin tu (this is illegal okay! Patut all buses kena pindah ke Terminal Hang Tuah!) I wasn't sure masa tu how to get the TM buses as bas ni baik sket... ikut arahan... port kat Jalan Hang Tuah nuuun! Wah... so the miserable masa tu... dah la naik bas starcoach tu berebut2! Then I had to bear the hostile stares from the other penumpang bus!! Rasa macam alien pulak dlm bus tu... I guess they do not like other people in their bus... may be sebab they felt like I ni menyebuk and memenuhkan bas diorang aje! :P But hey... this is a free country kan?? And I did pay for the bus ticket okay! :P

One morning... I was the first person yang naik the starcoach 6.30am bus. The driver gave me a hostile look and asked me (quite rudely!) "Akak dah beli ticket ke belum?" Eh?? bodoh ke apa soalan ni... tak kan la I nak naik bas without buying ticket kan?? But I just answered nicely "Mesti lah dah beli". And to my surprise... lepas I lalu je... his hostile face terus bertukar and tersenyum lebar at the lady behind me and greeted her so sweetly, "Selamat Pagi Kak.... how are you this morning?" Wahh... ini sudah DOUBLE STANDARD!!! cisss.... :P No wonder lah kawan2 dlm bus TM cakap "bas starcoach tu tak mau jual tiket kat kitorang!". Ohh... begini rupanya politik bas di sini... baru ku tahu!! So after a few miserable days... I decided to switch to TM bas again! Walau pun kena jalan jauh sket... I don't mind... asalkan selesa! :P

But still... once in a while, bila TERRRRPAKSA... kami tiada pilihan but had to take the starcoach buses. Like yesterday, my friend, Lady Bee had to take the Starcoach bus sebab bas TM pukul 6.45am rosak. The TM ticket man cakap "Akak pergi naik bas sana lah... takut nanti akak lambat masuk kerja". So she reluctantly bought a Starcoach ticket and got on the bus... and guess what?? The minute she stepped on the bus, the driver (probably the very same driver) bising2 marah the ticket man "Oi Wan! berapa kali aku kena cakap... jual ticket dengan customer kita saja lah! Jangan bagi orang lain!" And Wan, the starcoach ticketman said "Takpe lah.. nanti kakak tu lambat.. bas sana rosak!" And the driver jawab "Nanti customer kita pulak yang lambat!". Ohh... macam tu pulak ke??

Okay... I understand that they want to give high priority to their loyal customer. But hey... does that mean, orang lain tak boleh langsung naik bas starcoach ni??? I thought this is a "PUBLIC" transportation... and NOT a chartered one!! And whoever bought the ticket... boleh la dapat service bus ni kan?? The TM bus tak pernah bising pun sesiapa nak naik bas diorang... And last week, when the Starcoach bus rosak kat Jalan Duta, the TM bus driver was kind enough to stop and picked up all their customers naik the TM bus... I mean... ALL.. as in every single penumpang dalam Starcoach bus yang rosak tu!!! So you can imagine how sesak-besak the TM bas after that!! Merangkak slow le bus tu ke KL... sebab bas dah terOVERWEIGHT!! And as the result... everyone in the bus turned up late at their offices sebab bas lewat!! *luckily I wasn't in that bus!*. Boleh pulak kan?? Tak de double standard pun!! Haiii... ntah lah.... macam2! Bas pun berpolitik ya... tsk.. tsk.. tsk..

What's the meaning of true friendship?

Recently, I learned (the hard way!) the meaning of 'true friendship'. Someone I called 'friend' hurt me so bad and made me cry. I asked myself.... 'is she a true friend?'. Dunia and Akhirat?? I read somewhere that true friendship is perhaps THE only relation that survives the trials and tribulations of time and remains unconditional. A unique blend of affection, loyalty, love, respect, trust and loads of fun is perhaps what describes the true meaning of friendship. Well, obviously SHE did not respect me.... :P

How can a friend treat another friends so cruelly? Should friends stick together, no matter what? And what do friends do when a friend has hurt feelings? Sad to say... I do not have the answer... :( They said 'Time Heals All Wounds'.... I certainly hope it's true.... may be one day I would find the heart to forgive and forget.... insyaAllah....

OGA Day 01/05/2010

I had such a stressful week and was soooo looking forward to the 1st May weekend!! :) It's the TKC OGA day!! woohoo!!!! I've been looking forward to attending this event since last year! :P

Left Bkt Beruntung around 8am with my girl, Izzaty. Dalam kelam kabut nak keluar awal tu.. masuk je highway... baru teringat... I forgot to bring my camera.... cisss!!! :P Tapi malas dah nak buat U-turn. Anyway, I was pretty sure Has would bring her Nikon D90 (of course she did!). So off we go.... and reached Bukit Merbah around 9:15am...

*Photos below are courtesy of fellow Old Girls - Has, Kak Watif, Kak Ida Borhan and others... ciluk from Facebook :) *

I could feel the aura of Bukit Merbah when I entered this gate...... so exciting!

I always feel young when I attend OGA day... :) No 'aunties' today.... only 'kakak2'... no matter how old the old girls are :)

Registration... RM30 for me... and RM10 for Izzaty :) We were given a bag of goodies... :)

Izzaty and I brought 3 types of kuihs... kuih kole kacang, kuih talam keladi and kuih seri muka (made by my neighbour, Kak Yam) - my contribution to the 'Fun Food Bazaar'. The fund collected is to assist the TKC band for their trip to Beijing.

There were lots of activities for today... but first.... everyone gathered in the hall.... ada lah sedikit speeches and shows from the current warga TKC and the x-warga TKC. So, dengan bangga dan penuh nostalgia... saya menjejakkan kaki ke Dewan Budiman yang penuh bersejarah ini... huhu...

New image of the grand hall... Dewan Budiman - so many sweet memories here :)

Inside the hall... another 'poster' in the hall to welcome 'kakak2'.... Nice one adik2.... I like :)

'Bonda' adik2 di kolej... THE pengetua cemerlang.. Che Kamaliah Endod, who's also an OG :)

Timbalan Yang DiPertua OGA (Old Girl Association) of TKC - Dato' Ir Sabariah Sabtu

The show from the Old Girls - Kak Mazura(right) and Kak Mia Sherina (left) from batch 8185 sang 'Memories' (theme from 'The Cat') Wow... Kak Mazura!! That was quite a challenging piece... bravo!! :)

Kak Mia's son entertained the girls in the hall... wah, wahh... so berani jejaka ini :) Am sure ramai the TKC girls yang goes 'ohhh... ahhh... *drool*" lol!

The TKC Wind Orchestra.... They won the first prize in the Finale Wind Orchestra Competition 2009... bravo gal! Hope you gals win again this year :)

The girls in action... Izzaty actually loves them! She said 'sangat best!!!' and she wants to be in the team if she could make it into TKC in 2012.. haha, yeah rite! Nowadays, it's really not easy to join this school darling.... meanwhile, study hard dulu, okay?! We pray for the best.. :)

Dewan Sri Budiman were full... audiences were all excited listening to the wind orchestra show...

The last song was conducted by Kak Awatif (batch 8185). The song? Our 'Kolej Song' of course.. :) Dengan bangganya pelajar dan bekas pelajar semua bangun menyanyi... huhu... ada ke yang dah lupa lyric?? I doubt it... :)

Outside the hall... these kids tengah mengumpul 'dana' for their band trip to Beijing... wonderful! Hope you got lots! :)

Also outside the hall... Juita meeting Germ - 2 of my close friends during college days :) They used to be 'twin'. In college, everyone has a College Sister (CS) who's suppose to be your 'kakak' and 'jaga' you when you're in form 1. If you share the same CS... then you're so called 'twin' :) Who's my twin? Hmm... her name is Bidasari Ismail... but seriously... I haven't heard from her since I left college :( And our CS?? Kak Mahfuzah... also never heard since she left college back in 1984 :(

Finaz meeting Lela after... what?? 23 years?!!! Wow....

Another x-dormmate and close friend of mine... Asha Azuanis... who came all the way from Perlis.... phew! :)

The telematch... OGA bergabung tenaga dengan warga kolej to get marks for their houses. From left : Siti Zawiah (yellow) house, Selindang Delima (Green) house, Tun Fatimah (Blue) house and Mahsuri (red) house. Go Siti Zawiah!!! hehe.. yeap! I was from Siti Zawiah... :)

A Tun Fatimah girl in action....

There was also volley ball, basket ball and hockey match I think... but I did not watch it.... sangat2 panasssss!!!! Tak larat nak berjemur... muahahaha! Sorry Hani (played hockey) and Germ (played volley ball) :) While they were playing under the hot sun... the rest of the batch 8387 (my batch lah tu)... were having fun at the canteen... celebrating Juita's 40th birthday... woohoo!! Happy birthday darling Juita!! She was my dormmate for 3 years and was my AR3 roomate back in 1987. Pendek kata... 5 tahun di TKC... 4 tahun kami sebilik... :)

At the canteen... Juita belanja us nasi lemak... but I did not eat sebab nak 'simpan perut' nak makan kat dining hall nanti... huhu :) Yayang (the one at the head of the table) is pregnant.. tunggu hari aje lagi (by the way, one of our batch-mate, Wewe gave birth to a baby boy about the same time we all melepak kat kantin ni.... Congrats Wewe!).

Catching up with Lela.... wow, we do have a lot to catch up babe! Been 23 years!! :)

Yayang, Ita and Emy... penceria batch 8387 :) Without them... sure boring :)

Headgirl of '87 - Haniza Omar. She came to the canteen after a match with the under 16 hockey team. She actually managed to score a goal and OGA won the match! Bravo Hani! Just like old time eh? ;)

The birthday girl - Dr Juita Ahmad... Happy 40th birthday darling! We love you!!! *muah!*

The birthday cake...

The batch of 8387 who came on 1st May 2010 - Yayang (Siti Zawiah), Asha (Siti Zawiah), Juita (Siti Zawiah), Haniza Omar (Siti Zawiah), Haslina (Tun Fatimah), Norlaila (Tun Fatimah), Safinaz (Tun Fatimah), Runiza (Siti Zawiah), Raja Emylia (Mahsuri) and Mazrita (Mahsuri). Not in the picture is Germ (Siti Zawiah) who had to leave early... so the winner is SITI ZAWIAH!!! :)

At 1pm... everyone dashed to the dining hall... makan time!!! We were there a bit late... most of the tables were already occupied by the old girls... perghhh.. ramai sungguh old girls yang datang kali nih! Somehow, we managed to get a table... somewhere near the announcement box... huhu... :) The OGA got special menu.... different la dari menu students.. (so unfair eh? hehe.. but we paid for that what... so okay lorrr...:P) But I actually wanted to taste the student food... the nasi kawah one!!! :) Sajerr.... nostalgia lah pulak :D

The OGA menu - ada ayam, daging salai, ect, ect... quite nice lor...

And the student menu... sangat berbeza kan? Has cakap "diskriminasi!!" hahaha... Am sure she's talking on behalf of her daughter who's in form 1 in TKC this year :)

I enjoyed the food, nevertheless :) Dah lama tak pekena nasi kawah!!! :D Tak la sesedap mana... but again.. tak de lah tak sedap :D But the experience... priceless!! :) I also 'paksa-dera' Izzaty taste the student food - surprisingly dia cakap 'sedap!'. Biar betol.... hahaha! Sekali makan boleh la kata sedap kot... kalau dah bertahun2 dok kat kolej ni... maun tak tertelan dibuatnya! LOL!

I met lotssss of familiar faces in the dining hall... old students and even teachers!! Among the teachers who came were...

Bekas pengetua TKC - Cik Nasriah Maghribi...

Cik (or is it Puan now??) Tengku Noraini.. my favourite English teacher!! You still rock teacher! :) Ms Noraini is also an OG :)

Mr Lim Kim Ohh... my class teacher when I was in form 4T. On his right is Kak Awatif (batch 8185).

Another fav teacher of mine - my Bio teacher, Mr Tan Hock Ann. Such a wonderful and kind man... tak pernah marah students.... the nicest teacher EVER!! :)

And sitting in the grey tudung in this pic is Puan Siti Rohani - the most garang Sains Rumah Tangga teacher ever!! huhuhu...

Kak Lala (most left) posing with Mrs Chee (Bio teacher - did not teach me though!) and Ms Kamala (one of our fav PE teacher! Our other PE teacher was the famous Ms Nana Tilaka... who passed away a few years ago...)

Mr Cheah - my mod maths teacher... and his wife! :)

Puan Saodah who never taught me during my life in TKC... but happened to be my parents' good friend... :)

Kak Pie (head girl 1983 I think!) and Kak Julia (our sickbay administrator). Kak Julia used to jual kerepek during my years in TKC. So I asked her "Kak Julia jual kerepek lagi tak??" and she said "Kak Julia dah kaya... tak jual kerepek dah" LOL! - she never changed! Masih kelakar & sporting :D

And while all the moms sibuk catching up.... the kids entertained themselves kat netball court nih.. :) Izzaty got new friends now... :)

Later, I went for prayer at Block A... the Siti Zawiah building... where I used to do my prayer :) Met Hani O at the surau again. Hani just came back from Ireland furthering her studies. So it's been a while since we last borak2 like this... We were pretty closed before... used to be dormmates for a few years... and classmate for 5 years! Yeap... the whole 5 years in TKC.. we were classmates... hahaha!! Then later when she was chosen to be the Headgirl.. somehow, we spent less time together.... huhu. At the surau, she asked how many kids I have... so I answered "2". And she actually said "I ingat lagi... dulu you kata you nak anak 4". What??? You remember that?? Hahahaaa.... Hani!!!!! I love you for remembering such detail!!!! You really have good memory.. and yes... I used to tell myself "I want 4 kids when I got married!!" LOL!

What a beautiful day indeed! :) Izzaty and I had so much fun at Bukit Merbah today... am actually looking forward to join the OGA day next year... and the years after... :)
