A letter to KUMON Malaysia

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to share my disappointment with Kumon Bukit Sentosa which I think has mistreated my child.

My kids (daughter 12 yo, son 9 yo) had been with Kumon since they were 5 years old and both of them are now Gold Maths students. Along the way, they got bored doing the kumon worksheet which I totally understand as they have been doing it for years! But I do not want them to quit Kumon cause by joining Kumon, I do not have to worry on their Maths grades in school. They have been performing very well in school! Thanks to Kumon! I have been a Kumon supporters for years now!

But, I have to admit that I have not been monitoring their homework lately and yes, they probably had not done their homework properly lately. Yes, I also admit that I had given Ms Jaya, their Kumon instructor permission to 'cane' them whenever they are not behaving (I know she had caned my son a few times and just kept quiet about it) but what I did not expect is for her to cane my son and leave a mark!

And that really has pushed me to the brim! How could Ms Jaya treat my child like this?? No wonder both my kids were requesting to quit Kumon!

I also have other things to complain about Ms Jaya... but I am not going to list down all my dissatisfaction here. Suffice to say that many parents are quite disappointed with Ms Jaya but dare not complain or say anything as we do not want our kids to quit Kumon. After all, there's only one Kumon Center in Bukit Sentosa and we have no other choice :(

With regrets, I am taking out BOTH my kids out of Kumon Bukit Sentosa with immediate effect :(

Enraged mom, Bukit Sentosa.

Raising boys Vs Raising girls

The Royal Military College (RMC) Old Putera Association (OPA) has challenged TKC OGA to a debate! Considering RMC is an all-boys-school and TKC and all-girls-school, they have chosen a very interesting topic! :) The Topic is...

"Raising boys is easier than raising girls!".

When I read the email I was like... What??? They gotta be kidding me!!! I have 2 kids... a girl and a boy. Raising a boy is not easy at all!! :P Just one boy ajer pun sudah buat gue fening kepala! :P But again... of course raising a girl has its own challenges. Being a girl myself, I have to admit... I did lots of things that has caused headache to my parents... teeheehee! =)

This debate sounds fun! Am sure it's gonna be hilarious! :) Would LOVE to go and see the debate but the time and venue is not really convenient for me :( Hmm.... we'll see... kalau ramai gang pegi... syok jugak ek! :D

Majlis Makan Malam SKBB 2011

Hubby and I initially did not plan to go to this event... but since our daughter took part in one of the shows and atas kesilapan 'teknikal' by our son.... we had one ticket for this event and since hubby did not want to go... I had to go alone :(

Syukur alhamdulillah... Dr Aniza and family were kind enough to reserve a seat for me.... Otherwise, tak tau laaaa makcik kena dok ngan sapa.... huhu! Nevertheless, I had fun! I always enjoy watching kids in action :) I think the shows were quite entertaining and I thought these boys and girls are really talented! :) I especially enjoy watching my girl in action :)

If years ago, the Makan Malam Amal was initiated to build 'kawasan berbumbung' like a pavilion so that the kids tak perlu berhujan and berpanas (bravo PIBG! they did a great job and now kawasan berbumbung itu tersergam indah dan banyak berbakti pada warga SKBB!) , this year the Majlis Makan Malam Amal (which was held under the very same 'kawasan berbumbung'!) was initiated to collect fund to build 'jalan berbumbung' from pondok pengawal @ the school gate to the school canteen (again.... to protect the kids from getting wet during rainy days).

Sorry leee.... Gambar banyak blur and I did not take lots of pics during this event as my Canon camera tidak cukup power untuk capture gambar malam :( Unlike years ago, we took nice pics as hubby brought his SLR camera.

The ticket to Majlis Makan Malam Alam for yours truly.

Guru besar baru SKBB - Puan Nor Azian bt Abd Manan. Welcome to SKBB puan. Tolong didik dan doakan anak2 kami beroleh kejayaan di SKBB ini :)

The event finished around 11:15pm. Congratulations warga SKBB on the good job done! Semoga dapat mengutip dana yang mencukupi untuk projek 'jalan berbumbung' dan semoga SKBB terus maju dibawah pimpinan guru besar yang baru :)

Izzaty's 1st interview

My daughter was called for a first round interview for admission to Kolej Yayasan Saad (KYS), Melaka.

The interview was held at KYS last Saturday. Parents were also invited to KYS open house on the same day. I was excited for Izzaty... but unfortunately I could not join her to KYS as I had to attend Maybank Global CR day last Saturday :( Alhamdulillah, daddy was kind enough to accompany her for the interview.

At first I thought Izzaty was called under Axiata scholarship. Rupanya tidak :( Adoii.... how lor! :( The fee is quite expensive as KYS is an elite private school :( Nevermind girl... just go ahead for the interview, dah kena panggil tu pun alhamdulillah.... belum tentu lagi she will get a callback for for the 2nd interview. No harm trying kan... :)

Found these pics in KYS website :)
Izzaty in one of the classrooms doing written test - eh, boleh senyum lagi buat test??

1 Maybank Global CR Day

Maybankers worldwide once again made a difference last Saturday by reaching out to the community we served through various initiative at various locations throughout the world.

We, the staff from IT department, gathered at Maybank Academy, Bangi to entertain kids from these 5 orphan homes :
1. Pusat Aktiviti Kanak-kanak (PAKK), Yayasan Chow Kit
2. Asrama Bakti Penyayang Nur Iman
3. KL Crash Pad, Yayasan Chow Kit
4. Baitul Hidayah, Bt 13 , Kg Baru Puchong
5. Desa Amal Jireh, Semenyih
Among activities prepared for them were fun fairs, telematch, treasure hunt and watching movie.

That morning, I left the home at around 6:30am, picked up Min, a colleague who happened to live nearby my home and then drove to Kota Damansara to pickup another colleague, Che Tone at Kota Damansara's toll.... then only headed to Bangi - Jimat daaa kalau car pool :) I have been to Maybank Academy for a few times but still have no idea how to find that place without GPS!! But alhamdulillah... a few mins before 8am dah sampai... and sempat lah breakfast nasi lemak with the rest of the gang @ Maybank Cafetaria :)

This year, I volunteered myself (well, not really. My boss nominated my name and I am more than happy to oblige) as a crew @ organizing committee for this event and was responsible to find a suitable short movie (about 45 mins) for the kids to watch on that day... and pilihan terbaik sudah tentunya the latest series - Boboiboy... terbaekkkkk!!! :D I sure had fun watching the series with the kids :)

Excited to the CSR crew for the first time :)

Jajan2 for the CSR kids. Thanks to my friends - Che Tone and Linda who volunteered to help me buying presents and goodies for the kids! Berpeluh ketiak jugak lah jalan last Wednesday berjalan dari Menara Maybank ke Happy Planet @ Petaling Street and later walked to Lebuh Ampang pulak to buy some goodies.... one big round okey! Penat tapi berbaloi! :)

We gave some quizzes after the movie and those kids who could give the right answer were given a present :) These presents were bought at Happy Planet @ Petaling Street :)

More jajan cum quiz presents sponsored by Mun Wai :)

The 'Boboiboy' movie crew :)

The kids arrived around 8:30am. Since I was one of the Boboiboy movie crews, I did not get the chance to get myself involve in the other activities.... asyik la nenguk Boboiboy... entah berapa round! Siap hafal dah characters in the series...huhu!! :D And yeap.... I had sooooo much fun with the crews and kids :)

Kids and staff in auditorium - Jom tenguk Boboiboy!! Terbaekkkk!! :)

THE END! Boboiboy sudah abis... so the crews berposing together2 :D

Gathering for the prize-giving and finale before our lunch

Lunch with Eda before going back home

Left Maybank Academy after lunch. Drpped by at Che Ton's house for tea for a few mins before heading home. Reached home about 3.30pm. Penat. Tapi seronok :)
