On our 4th day – our last day in Kunming, we decided to have breakfast in our apartment – we need our morning coffee please…. Not soup! :P Thanks god, DikMa brought some instant coffee! Our plan for the day was to go to Western Hills to visit Dianchi Lake and Dragon Gate.
Western Hills are one of the highlights of Kunming and a must visit when you come here. From the internet, I found out that Western Hills are also called 'Sleeping Buddha Hills', as looked from a distance, they have the appearance of a giant sleeping Buddha. They have also been given another name 'Sleeping Beauty Hills' for the hills when viewed together look like a beautiful young lady lying beside Dianchi Lake with her face upward and her hair trailing into water. By the way, Dianchi Lake is the 6th largest lake in China… so Richard told me.
It’s a long way from bottom to the top to see the Dragon Gate, but I actually enjoyed the hike ;) We took the cable from the lake to the entrance gate (save lots of energy there hihi!). Amazing view from the cable car!
Richard warned us that there would be about 300 steps to the top. So my aunty and DikMa (and Ika of course!) decided not to join us. Little Sophie was brave enough to join her mom for this adventure! ;) Way to go Sophie!! ;)
And our hike began…
Nice scenery from here...
Guan Gong the Fortune God – the Chinese would touch his gold shoes to get more fortune.
Aiyayaaa…. More stairs…. -_- Caiyok, caiyok Sophie... we can do it!!!
Enjoying the view from top.... it's beautiful! And felt good for being able to be here on top of Western Hill ;)
More and more stairs... :P
At our age... Cik Kiahs mmg mengah la sket nak sampai sini ya... haha!
Richard said ‘Touch the head of the turtle for long life’
Sophia need to eat something to recharge her energy to climb more stairs :D
Phoenix Rock – also known as Old Stone House
Richard said this is The God of Benevolence. Couples who want to have children would come to pray here.
The Dragon Gate survivor… yeah!!
And I thought that was the end of our journey… but nope…. We have MORE stairs to climb…. Aiyooo…
Sophia teman maklang naik tangga ya… kita sama2 crawl kalau penat… hehe
Yang ini tak reti nak cerita as I didn 't take note... -_-
I was probably too tired to take note by then.. haha!
And MORE stairs to go…. :P
Yours truly taking a deeeeepppp breath while enjoying the scenery…

Okay… time to go down… slow and steady. Watch your steps!
Dah sampai bawah… Sophie penatt…. Sophie nak eksrim!!! :D
in cable car on our way down
did you see the golden gate??
We had lunch here in a place called Guan Shang (in Kunming city).
Along choosing the veges and fishes/meat to be cooked.
spring roll aka popia goreng!! My favourite!!! They used kulit wantan instead of our normal kulit popia… sedap gak… hihi!
Lunch… Malaysia style! I like!!
After lunch, we decided to walk to a nearby fruit market...
Haaaippp Ikaa… don’t touch! -_-
Believe it or not, we only got to shop fruits! (and ohh… Ruby and Na sempat sopping toys at one small nearby shop)… that’s all! No souvenirs shopping …. In China??!!! Macam susah nak percaya kan! Tapi itu lah hakikatnya. Did not find any fridge magnet that has ‘Kunming’ written on it! Kecewa!:P
Straight to the airport after fruit shopping… (yes, that’s the only souvenirs I bought for my colleagues and mr hubby…huhu!) Performed prayer at the airport (yes, there’s a cozy surau at Kunming airport) before flying home…
KL tunggu kami pulang….
