GATM goes Papua New Guinea

I had been involved in the GATM (Global ATM) project since phase 1. GATM is an initiative for regional expansion of Maybank IT services to achieve common standards & platforms across Maybank in order to optimize and leverage on Maybank Group’s expertise. Global ATM would link the overseas Maybank ATMs to a centralised ATM application in Malaysia instead of operated by the respective host countries. So far, alhamdulillah.... GATM has been successfully implemented at Maybank Combodia branches (22/1/11) and Maybank Brunei branches (20/08/11).

Yesterday, Mr AB dropped by at my workstation to discuss on a project. Somehow he mentioned on the next GATM project - this time Maybank Papua New Guinea. I told him that "Kitorang ni asyik kena run GATM jobs aje for you all.... bawak le kami ni gi Papua New Guinea sekali... baru le semangat nak buat kerja.. haha!"

And he answered "Are you sure you wanna go Papua New Guinea? Do you know that diorang pegi sana siap kena guard 24 hours by 6 security guards fully armed with pistols and guns for protection? You ingat selamat ke kat sana? Dulu sorang branch Manager kita kat sana kena kidnap... dia bawak masuk hutan... dia mintak ransom banyak woo from our bank... baru dia lepas!"

Erkk.... "Ye ke??? Eiiiii.... okay laaaa!!! I tak mau pegi Papua New Guinea...  I run jer the jobs for you! :P"
