After the adventure at Acropolis, everyone was hungry. So the next adventure was definitely food hunting. Before we left the hotel this morning, I had googled some interesting halal restaurant here in the city of Athens. We were to go to the Omonia area. At first we wanted to take the train… but after studying the map, we decided to walk…. man, rasa nak tercabut kaki mak jalan!! :P We ended up eating at this restaurant...
The price was surprisingly quite reasonable...
Nasi beryani ada, tandori chickens oso ada… yummm! We decided to eat the tandoori chicken wrap...
Tak sempat ambil gambar dah licin…. woliau! kah kah! :D
Izzat paling kuat makan :D
When we walked around this area later, I felt like I am in an Arab country instead of in Greece :D
You know what I mean? ;)
At Omonia district…
We took the train to go the National Archaeological Museum.
The National Archaeological Museum in Athens houses some of the treasures from one of the greatest Western civilizations. Opened in 1891, this superb museum brought together a collection that has previously been stored all over the city. The priceless collection was then dispersed and buried underground during World War II to protect it from possible damage. The museum was reopened again in 1946 after taking 50 years of renovation and reorganization finally to do justice to its formidable collection.
So many interesting things here in this museum!
old greek tombstone
Top : Myrtle wreath with berries in gold! Amazing!
Bottom : Vase with engraved decoration on the shoulder and embossed acanthus leaves on the underside. Silver and gilding. 250-200 BC
Top : Mask of Agamemnon - Found at Mycenae, this gold death mask was originally thought to have belonged to the legendary king, Agamemnon. Dates from the mid-1600s BC.
Statue : Hey you down there! Don't forget to take my pic! :D
Hellenistic bronze known as the 'Horse with the Little Jockey'
Okay lah I have to admit…. I am not a huge fan of museum. But I did enjoy the National Archaeological Museum! :) After a tiring day (we had been on foot since morning!), decided to go back to our hotel for prayers and resting our feet..
ice-cream break on the way back…
View from top of our hotel. Can you see Acropolis on top of the hill in this pic?
That night, we went out again. Well, at least me and my boys. My girl was too tired and refused to follow. On our way out, we told the receptionist that we are going out but our daughter was in the room sleeping… and the receptionist gave us a surprise look and said "Your daughter?? OMG! How old are you guys??" Lol! :D
Went to Athens Flea market...
Dropped by at HRC Athens. An Asterix mom, Sut, ordered one Tshirt.
Very nice place!
This is the Tshirts that Sut ordered. It costs €27.95. Rate was not good…. so giler mahal lah bila convert! :P Tapi rugi la kalau dah sampai sini tak de kenangan kan… huhu.
So Mr Hubby bought one for himself.
Nightview of Acropolis...
Bought some local tshirts and fridge magnets here at the flea market. Price wise, it's definitely cheaper compared to Santorini. Lagi pun, now that Greece is under financial crisis, we can see the effect to the local business here in Athens (but not in Santorini!). We can see lots of shops were closed and not in business.
Next morning, we had to catch our flight to Paris. Before checking out, Izzat and I had our morning walk to the nearby Starbuck cafe..
Not really to buy the coffee… but to buy this one…
.. for my big sis, Along :D She collects the Starbuck city tumbler. Unfortunately, they do not have tumbler with 'Athens' written on it. Ni jer ada…. so beli jer laaa…
Later, a taxi was waiting for us in front of the hotel. We had the awesomest taxi driver ever that morning! Can't remember his name, but he had been in Malaysia and loving it! So panjang lah cerita kan… haha!
The boys with our taxi driver…
Waiting for our flight at the Airport.
Flew with Transavia Airlines for €121 per head.
In the flight, we ordered this for our brunch…
Yummey!!! Sedap banget!! :D
