So when Air Asia was on offer last year, we decided to book a 'cuti-cuti Malaysia trip' to Kuching Sarawak :) Earlier this year, I told Izzaty that she could join us for this trip as she is in a boarding school. Burnt la her ticket tu... But I guess luck was on her side... suddenly the principle announced that all 1st and 2nd formers had to go for 'outing bermalam' from 22nd Feb to 27th Feb as their dorms would be used by the hockey players for the NS Hockey Tournament... Our trip to Kuching is on 23rd to 27th Feb... wahh... memang rezeki kami lah nak berjalan bersama! :)
Anyway, reached Kuching late evening of 23rd February. Only lepak2 at the hotel (Grand COntinental Kuching - booked via Air Asia website) as I was so darn tired... huhu! Had to work 1/2 day and rushed to KL Central to catch a bus to LCCT whilst the rest of the gang left Lucky Hill by car in the afternoon.
I was sooooo excited! Maklumlah.. first time nak ke sana :) My friends were quick to tease me "Dah pegi merata dunia... Sarawak tak pernah pegi lagi? Belum habis cover Malaysia lagi???" Haha!! Hallooo.... dunia Allah ni luas okay... banyak lagi tempat di bumi Allah ni yang belum saya cover :P

On the 2nd day, we left our hotel early in the morning after having breakfast at the hotel. Our rented car (a proton-wira booked via internet and rented for 2 1/2 days) was delivered to the hotel early in the morning. Our first destination is Semenggoh Orang-Utan Rehabilitation Center :) Located approximately about 20 kilometres (about 45 mintues drive) away from Kuching town, Semenggoh Orang-Utan Rehabilitation Center is one of Malaysia's best known sanctuaries for the endangered Orang Utan. Entrance ticket is quite cheap - RM3 for adult and RM1.50 for student, senior citizen and disabled person. The kids (and their mom!) were so excited to see orang utan for the first time! :) We reached there about 9am... right on time for the Orang Utan feeding time!
Left Semenggoh about 40 mins later and went straight to Sarawak Cultural Village on the other side of Kuching in Pantai Damai, Santubong. We were advised to be there by 11.30am in order to enjoy the cultural show. Alhamdulillah.... we made it on time for the show :) The entrance fee is RM60 for adults and RM30 for kids 6 to 12 years old. Free for kids below 6.We were given a passport and a stamp will be given when you visit to each house in the village. This really motivate my kids to get the 'stamp' from each house :)
Walking a few mins to the feeding platform inside the forest...
Lots of tourist and local visitors waiting to see Orang Utan during their feeding time. Unfortunately only one came out... yang lain kenyang kot :P Atau pun musim hujan ni masih tido....zzzzz :P
Selina - the name of this Orang Utan that came out during the feeding time.
A forest ranger with lots of bananas to feed the Orang Utan..
Selina enjoying the bananas all alone....
Everybody was quite disappointed sebab dapat tenguk sekor jer orang utan on that day... so we left the feeding platform :(
Before leaving the area, lepak2 dulu area depan tu....
There's also information on the Orang Utans staying at the Semenggoh Wildlife Center.
And that's Selina! :)

We arrivedjJust in time to watch the cultural show at 11.30am :)
One special pose from the 'sumpit boy' for our camera :) He's so funny.. I like!! :)
The show is about 45 mins. After the show, we walked around the Cultural Village and visited every single house in the village ~ Duh... the kids insisted to stamp the passport at each house! Spent about 4 hours here... tiring but we sure had fun! :)
Makcik2 ni masak kuih bahulu and kuih sepit :)
Finally... the stamped pasport! :) Kids mission accomplished! ;)
Across the road from Sarawak Cultural Village is Damai Beach. We spent a few mins here just to take some pics before leaving Damai and Santubong area.

Had late lunch eating Laksa Sarawak at Moms' Laksa at Petrajaya - upon recommendation from my dear Kuching-based friend, Pean :) Nominated as 2nd best laksa in 'Fabulous Food 1 Malaysia' anjuran Kementerian Pelancongan Malaysia back in 2009. Alang2 dah sampai Sarawak... of course we had to try the best laksa sarawak in town, eh? :)
Berpusing2 juga nak cari the shop.... but alhamdulillah, we finally made it here! :)
