Salam aleikum Marrakech *Day2 - part2*

After Marrakech museum, we walked around the Souk and Jemma El Fna again before proceeding to our next destination.

This is probably the wet market at the Souk...

Is that  a crocodile skin? Eeeuu...

The kids were thirsty, so we stopped here for a glass of tea (for the adult) and cokes (for the kids).
... while enjoy the view of Jemma El Fna

The man in red (and colourful hat) is a water-seller... there are a bunch of them at this area. You have to pay them if you want to take a pic with them... so hubby just snapped his pic from behind :))

Continue to explore Marrakech after our drink. It was sunny and the weather was just nice.
Had an enjoyable walk exploring this city!

At the Kasbah mosque. Beautifully decorated minaret!

Adjacent to the Kasbah mosque is the Saadiens Tombs.
The Saadien Tombs in are the final resting places of the around sixty of the rulers and members of the Saadi Dynasty including Sultan Ahmed El Mansour (the sixth sultan of the dynasty) and his family. Although they go back to the 16th century, the tombs were only discovered in 1917. The tombs have, because of the beauty of their decoration, been a major attraction for visitors of Marrakech.

This place is not so big. It consists of 2 main mausoleums with 66 tombs laid out between them and 100 more outside the gardens. When we reached here, there was a long queue to see one of the main mausoleums (the finest of the 2). So we decided to sit back and enjoy the view at the courtyard and wait till the queue subside.

Inside the finest main mausoleum

The main mausoleum has 3 different rooms : The first boasts a very fine mihrab. The second, central room houses the tomb of Sultan Ahmed El Mansour and the third room houses the tombs of his children.

Oh wow... the tombs arrayed around the courtyards are so colourful! :)

Outside the Saadian Tombs....

Love seeing how they displayed the spices! How on earth did they manage to make the spices to stay in that shape??? -_-

After leaving Saadien Tombs, we wanted to visit the Bahia Palace but could not found our way there. We walked around and met a 'nice' young man who offered to walk with us to that place. Punyala jauh dia bawak kami jalan... all the way in and out some alleys...

...Then we ended up at his shop!!! Pfftttt...... !!!!! -_-
Told ya... you have to be wary with these people. Ada udang sebalik mee di sebalik kebaikan mereka...
The boy who was 'kind' enough to show us way to go to Bahia Palace... but ended up showing us way to go to his shop :P
Did we buy anything at his shop? Beli air jer laaa... tu pun terpaksa :P
Other than that... walau pun beriya member promote barangan kedai tu... sorry la bro... we are not interested! :P
And yes, bagi la tips sket to him atas 'jasa baik' dia kan... Huhu.
*mode : bengkek la jugak.. huhu*

And what happened to Bahia Palace?? Pftttt....We still could not find our way there -_-

We ended up at a food stall eating lunch instead :P

Oh... I forgot to introduce to you Moroccan famous dish... tagine :)
It's delicious!! Yum! Yum!
Tagine actually refers to a unique type of ceramic or clay cookware that is so popular in Africa. The bottom is a wide, circular shallow dish used for both cooking and serving. While the top of the tagine is distinctively shaped into a rounded dome or cone.

Like this one...
*googled pic*

The word "tagine" also refers to the famous succulent dish which is slow-cooked inside the cooking vessel. Typically, ta tagine dish is a rich stew of meat, chicken or fish cooked with vegetables or fruits.. like my pic above :)

 Enjoying our food....

Dah kenyang... let's contiue our vision to find Bahia Palace :D
Along the way.... I enjoyed seeing things being displayed in front of the shops ;)
Guess what... baju mannequin in this pic is actually made using tires! Yeap..,. tayar you all! Bad smell :P Sape la nak beli ni... :P

I guess by then, kami pun dah kepenatan berjalan non-stop... we finally decided to go back to our Riad to freshen up and perform our solah.

After solah, we went out again... forget about Bahia Palace! We decided to go to Majorelle Garden instead. To go to Majorelle Garden, we need to get a taxi. And taxi drivers pun tak kurang putar belitnya! :P Can't remember how much we paid... tapi kena katok laaaa... huhu! A bit expensive considering the short distance... *sigh!* :((

Anyway, here we were at Majorelle Garden! :)
This garden is located near the center of Marrakech modern city. Created by French furniture designer and painter, Jacques Majorelle. Majorelle wanted to make his garden a unique space within the city. With this goal in mind, the garden displays plants brought from various regions around the world: bougainvillea, cypress, bamboo, jasmine, water lily, cactus, ect, ect... over 100 different species in all! Majorelle died in 1962 and the garden fell into serious neglect. In 1980, the garden was purchased by YSL (Yves Saint Laurent) and Pierre Berge and restored and improved through the addition of rare species. Thus, the flora in the garden increased from 135 species as of 1999 to 300 today.

Resting our tired legs while enjoying the garden :)

Inside the garden, there is also a museum of Islamic art in what was Jacques Majorelle's workshop.

My hero hindustan ;))

After Yves Saint Laurent died in 2008 his ashes were scattered in the Majorelle Garden.

Love the 'blue' colour painted all around this garden! Everything is painted in the same blue!

Left the garden a few mins before Maghrib and yeah... kena katok lagi dengan another taxi driver :P

Sunset at Jemaa El Fna Square...

My girl getting some souvenirs for her friends...

We stopped at a small restaurant for dinner. Chose that shop because I saw a lady preparing something that look like roti canai in front of the shop -_-

And I ordered this...

Okay laa... tasted close to Malaysian roti canai! Yum yum! Hilang rindu makan roti canai babe... :))

Getting back to our Riad... yeah, as I told in my first post on Marrakech... we got lost again.. LOL! :D
But alhamdulillah... lepas tu past dah! Hafal dah all the signs to find our Riad :))
