So, again, we just walked around exploring Marrakech old city after the rain stopped ;)
Something unfortunate happened to me on day 3 in Marrakech. Was busy looking around and I did not notice a divider that was put at the souk ( I guess it was there to avoid big vehicles to enter this area), I accidentally kicked it and fell down :(( Thanks god I was holding my bagpack in front of my me, so it kinda protected myself from getting a bad fall! But still gedebuk la jatuh... like a nangka busuk.... adoiiii!! LOL! :D Hurt my face a bit... at the top of my lips area... other than that... alhamdulillah, I was okay! :) Sungguh la clumsy kan? Malu siutt... coz there were lots of people around... haha 0_0
This pic was taken after my fall.... Did not let the minor incident spoil my mood this holiday! :P
And guess what? We finally found Bahia Palace today!!
I was told that Bahia Palace is one of the richest and most beautiful palaces to be seen in Marrakech. It was built in the late 19th century, intended to be the greatest palace of its time. The Bahia is a large old house, together with an additional complex of houses, which were adapted as a palace for the Grand Vizier Ahmed ben Mousa, known as Ba Hmad. Labourers and craftsmen from all over the country worked without stopping for 6 years (1894-1900) to adapt the palace.
This palace is absolutely gorgeous. It has lots of rooms with amazing details almost everywhere: ceilings, windows, walls, doors!
Here's poor me trying to 'tuam' my lips yang sudah bengkak after the fall :D
After Bahia Palace, we visited the Dar Si Said palace which housed the Museum of Moroccan Art.
Museum of Moroccan Art displays collections of tapestries, ceramic objects, marble sulptures, embossed leather objects, musical instruments, weapons, metal and wooden art pieces, ect, ect.
But for me, like museum of Marrakech which we visited in day 2, I was more interested of the building itself which is full of intricate Byzantine designs
and colors rather than what was displayed here... :D
The garden at the museum is beautiful! :)
Back in the exhibition room...
Okay.... enough with museums! Thanks god there are only 2 museums here in Marrakech! :D
We, or rather Mr Hubby was so keen on trying one of the hamams here in Marrakech... and decided to try this place...
Hamam Ziani - apparently quite famous here in Marrakech. It was previously a public Hamam but bought by Mr Ziani (the one in black standing in front of the door).
Okay... this is my first experience with this hamam thingy...
We were served mint tea upon registration at this place...
Hindustani instrumental music was played at the background during our visit. Lol... lagu hindustan? Why lar not play Morracan songs?? But well, I love hindustan songs... so okay laa.. :D
The ladies and gents were sent to separate rooms...
Izzaty and I went to the ladies side... and Izzat and hubby to the male side...
Inside the male changing room...
I didn't take pics inside the ladies room.... ishh tak kuasa la... Lol! :D
Steam-bathed, scrubbed with argan oil and nice-smell soaps and massaged.... *heaven!*
Steam-bathed, scrubbed with argan oil and nice-smell soaps and massaged.... *heaven!*
Overall, it was it as a good massage, not as strong as the one I experienced back in Malaysia, but I felt good. I even managed to 'tuam' my lips yang senget sebelah tadi during the steam bath. Felt much2 better after that, alhamdulillah! I left this place feeling very clean and refreshed... and very, very hungry ;)
Off we went to find something to eat at the souk...
Pusing punya pusing... we decided to eat ayam golek at a small restaurant at the souk! :)
We ordered one small whole chicken for the 4 of us!
And a big bottle of coke! :)
And guess what.... tak cukup jugak! Terpaksa order another 1/2 chicken.. believe it or not!
Punya la kebulur... lol! :D
Berseleranya makan after hamam... ;)
The ayam golek restaurant at Marrakech Souk :)
Dah kenyang... sambung balik jalan2 at Jemaa El Fna Square and Koutoubia area. The vision was to perform our solah at Koutoubia Mosque.
Kotoubia Mosque seen from far...
Sempat la posing ya... :))
Katoubia Mosque is the biggest mosque in Marrakech. The mosque is ornamented with curved windows, a band of ceramic inlay, pointed merlons, and decorative arches; it has a large plaza with gardens... Very nice and very Moraccon style!
We wanted to perform prayer here... but I hesitated when I saw the place where everybody should take wuduk.... tersangat lah open, not very friendly for muslimah in my opinion. Then there were lots of taik burung around this patio... adoii, how lar to take wuduk... because chances is we would step on those birds poo after taking our wuduk... In fact before taking wuduk... Baru jer nak jalan kat area tu, I dah terpijak on a bird poo :P
Decided to rush back to our Riad to perform our solah instead...
Meanwhile... among hasil tangkapan hari ini....
