Checked out at 5am in the morning and got a taxi straight to Orly Airport, Paris. This is our first experience in Orly Airport. Alhamdulillah, there is a comfy surau for us to perform our Subuh prayer before our flight to Santorini. Air wuduk heated... Alhamdulillah, dipermudahkan.
We flew to Santorini with Transavia Airlines (one of KLM Airlines subsidiaries). It's a budget flight that cost us about €100 per head. Magnificent view from flight, especially when we approached Santorini.
Woohooo.. We are finally in Santorini!
Chaírete Santoríni!
Hello Santorini!!
It's like a dream come true to be here.. ❤️
Upon arrival, the car rental agent that we booked waited for us.
Our rented car in Santorini - Nissan Note. We booked it online with Santorini Holiday Cars for €138 for four days complete with full insurance coverage (it would be cheaper without the insurance of course).
Getting ready to drive to our homestay in Santorini.
It's left handed drive guys. Not our first time driving a left handed drive car… but every time we do so, we need to get familiarize with the car first. You know… getting the rhythm and so on.. huhu.
Drove from the airport to Imerovigli , where our rented home is located. Imerovigli is located at the highest place in the Santorini Island. Mr Aris, the owner of the house we rented, waited for us at one point (we called him once we arrived at the airport) and brought us to the place.
In this pic, we were actually walking on the rooftop of the house we rented.
Going down the labyrinthine walkways and stone stairs to the house.
There sure are lots of steps here in Santorini. So guys, if you're going to Santorini… do some warm up first okay… haha.
And here we were at Villa Marily, our home during our stay here in Santorini.
This place is really awesome!! The villa is a traditional cave house. We booked the house via Airbnb online. The rent is a bit expensive for us (€265 per night) but what the heck… we want to feel living in a house like a local Santorini people. We want to enjoy and feel the Santorini live! And we love it!! :D
Mr Aris, the villa owner was incredibly helpful with courteous and detailed advice before and during our stay. He volunterily carried the heaviest luggage down the labyrinthine walkways and stone stairs to the house. He showed us around the villa and left us with a mobile phone in case we need to contact him. A local lady came every morning cleaning the house, do the bed, ect. - yeap, excellent service!
The house has 2 bedrooms… one inside the house and another one is outside and separated from the main building - both internal and external rooms have queen beds/
The internal room
The external room
There is also a big living hall with 2 build-in sofas. So the kids quickly marked their territory… haha
Izzaty chose to sleep here
And Izzat chose this one
The kitchen is cozy and well equipped. But most importantly, it has an awesome view!
A cute toilet
And the most important fact that we like about the house is…. it has the awsomest view!! Like really, really awesome! Like a little paradise! I feel like I wanna live there forever! -.-
View from our front door
And we have our own private patio! How cool is that?! ;)
Imerovigli has the awsomest sunset view… and we can just watch it from our own private patio.
See that blue window? That's the entrance to the room that is outside the house.
Amazing view right? Told ya… Villa Marily is awesome! Worth every penny renting it!
Panorama view from Villa Marily
These 2 kids are so lucky to be in Santorini at a very young age...
By the time we settled down, everyone was hungry. We ordered yummilicious mushroom piza pocket in the flight but still we were hungry... -.-
And the fastest food to serve… MAGGIE! haha!
And the fastest food to serve… MAGGIE! haha!
Ate our lunch at the patio while enjoying the amazing view... watching the cruise ships coming in... it was like living a dream. The views are breathtaking!! *blessed*
Dah isi perut… jom jalan2 and explore the beautiful Island of Santorini!
But first… let's wefie!! :D
It was so windy. My tudung flew here and there haha!
Awesome weather and we were liking it too much!
I nearly had a heart attack seeing my kids on this roof… scary okay! Dah la windy!
All the time I was thinking 'thank god I bought travel insurance for this trip!' :D
And ohh…. si ayah pun sama jugak! Pffttt… not me okay… not me! Gayat tenguk!
All those dangerous stunts - just to get a pose with a nice scenery… ish ish...
We did lots and lots of walk in Imerovigli. This place is sooooo breathtakingly beautiful, masyaAllah!
Abundance of whites... loving the view so much!
This super market is located near Villa Marily. Bought ice-creams and some groceries here.
ATV is a famous transport in Santorini. Lots of tourists rent ATV here. We saw lots of it here on Santorini's road. It looks fun but bear in mind that the roads in Santorini are mostly narrow. Lots of bendy roads with not many guard rails in place. If you are not familiar with ATVs, I think it's quite dangerous to try it in Santorini. Just chose a small car like we we did. Small but more stable - just my 2 cents thoughts ;)
After groceries shopping we went back to Villa Marily for prayer and resting our feet for a few mins. Then off to Oia by car...
Oia is a picturesque town on the northern part of Santorini that overlooks the famous caldera where some speculate the lost city of Atlantis stood before sinking into the sea. Lots of tourists stay here in Oia as its sunset view is said to be legendary! So yeah, we stayed until sunset... and wow, it took my breath away! Subhanallah.... Now I know why they say Oia makes the list of top sunsets to see in the world!
Wandering around Oia while waiting for sunset...
Lots of souvenir shops here... It was our first day here... so kita survey2 dulu... huhu.
Sunset in Oia - all I can say is SubhanaAllah, it is beautiful!
Stayed until dark in Oia before we headed back to Imerovigli.
Night view from Villa Marily - awesome right?
Well, wait for my next post on Santorini… ;)
