We plan to see the Great Mosque of Xi'an today as I did not get the chance to do so the day before. Furthermore, we did not get enough of Muslim Quarter! Muslim Quarter was just a walking distance from our hotel. Weather was nice... so we had a lovely walk to that place :)
Xi'an's drum tower.
Apparently, in Chinese history from Ming Dynasty, each city had a bell tower and a drum tower. The bell was sounded at dawn and the drum at dusk each day in ancient time, a means of telling time (how cool is that!). Xi'an was no exception. The Bell Tower and Drum Tower of Xi'an date back to the Ming dynasty (1368-1644).
The Xi'an Muslim Quarter is located just behind (north of ) the Drum Tower. In fact, if you go to the top of the Drum Tower, you will have a bird's eye view of the Muslim Quarters. Unfortunately, we did not enter the Drum Tower. We went to Xi'an Muslim Quarter instead! :)
The Xi'an Muslim Quarters is an interesting place any tourist would not miss in Xi'an! The streets and walkways in this area are definitely full of life! I found it so delightful to just to sit there and watch the activities going around the Muslim Quarter :)
The entrance to Muslim Quarter.
Among things/activities/moments captured by our camera that morning...

Our breakfast that morning...
Something like pau with shrimp inside and chicken wings. Okay la... not bad :)
The restaurant where we had our breakfast...
We chose this restaurant because the menu has English translation... haha!
Continue exploring the Muslim Quarter after breakfast...

Yours truly was busy taking pictures using my phone :))
Saw Imam Yahya on his bicycle :))
Since our socks and shoes were wet and soaked yesterday, both Izzaty and I decided to get a new pair of shoes! :) Jom shopping kasut...
Izzaty's on right and yours truly's on left. Tak ingat harga... but very cheap ones :))
These local delicacies look yummy... so we decided to try some..
This young lady who works at this local bakery was nice enough to recommend some nice delicious local pastries :))
The local bakery that we bought those chinese pastries.
Eating the pastries that we bought while walking around.... some are too sweet to my liking! But some are really nice!! :))
Continuing our exploration of Muslim Quarter...
One of the public transports in Xi'an... Cool giler makcik ni bawak! :))
And again... menyinggah at Imam Yahya's shop -_-
Asked Imam to write the names of sisters and brothers. In this pic, imam was writing my eldest sis and bro-in-law's names - Ruzila, Azhar. Can you figure out the arabic characters and read them?
This one was written as "Assalamualaikum (most top) followed by our names - Razak, Runiza (2nd line), Izzaty, Izzat (bottom line).... love them!!! :))
He had to write lots of names for us... lol! But alhamdulillah... Imam was happy enough to oblige :)) One sheet of paper costs us RMB30 after discount :))
This one is for Siti Zawiah... our beloved yellow house in TKC :)) We will frame this and present it to Siti Zawiah and hope they would hang it in the SZ's new lounge in Bandar Enstek ;)
Next, we went to the Great Mosque for our jamak qasar Dzuhur and Asar prayer. Since there are lots of info and pics of the mosque that I'd like to share, I decided to write about it later in a new entry...
So wait for it ya.... till then...
