When I told my Iranian colleague that Kashan was not in my itinerary, he was like 'What?? You must go! It's not far from Tehran.. Kashan is beautiful.. you must go!!'.
The truth is... I did not know the detail of our itineraries as it was Mr Hubby who planned everything 😅
Obviously I knew nothing 🙈
Alhamdulillah, Kashan was in our itinerary. And Yousef is correct.. it is soooo beautiful!!
The houses in Kashan are among precious historical architectural heritages of Iran. They represent the old history of this city. These houses are symbols of the fading identity of Persian architecture. There are more than 500 old houses in Kashan... Sultan Amir Ahmad Hammam (read my previous post), Tabatabeyee, Abassi, Boroujedi houses are among the famous ones...
The next historical house we visited were Boroujerdi Historical House.
The entrance fee was not included in the combined ticket we bought earlier... so we bought a separate ticket to enter this house IRR150,000.
The Boroujerdi house belonged to a very wealthy merchant and carpet trader, Haj Seyyed Hassan Natanzi, known as Boroujerdi since he imported goods from Boroujerd. The house is located beside the Sultan Amir Ahmad bathhouse. It was built in was built in 1857 by an architect named Ali Maryam Kashani, for Haj Sayyeh Hassan Boroujerdi's bride. The bride was from Tabatabaei family, for whom the architect had built Tabatabaei House several years earlier.
The Boroujerdi house consists of a rectangular court yard, beautiful wall painting by the artist of the royal court Kamal-ol-Molk, and three tall wind towers to cool the house.
The house obviously has all the classic signatures of Persian architecture.
Mr and Mrs mandatory pose... 😘
The panoromic view of the house.... amazing eh?
At one wing of the house, there was a kiosk selling books...
We bought 2 books as souvenirs... Books with lots of pictures of Iran and Kasyan.
Love, love, love the books!!❤️
The salesgirl was nice enough to offer us a private tour to one of the roof of this house...
She ordered one of the maintenance guys to accompany us to the top of the roof...
Next, we visited the Tabatabeyee Historical House
Tabatabeyee House is one of the most famous and beautiful old houses in Kashan, belong to Haj Seyyed Ja'far Natanzi. The building was constructed between 1270 and 1280 by Ali Maryam Kashani, the same architect that build Boroujerdi house.
Tabatabeyee House consists of four courtyards (Haj Seyyed Ja'far was a successful manufacturer and trader of carpet and had trading affairs with other countries. Therefore, he needed a big public space to receive his customers), beautiful wall paintings with stained glass windows and includes other classic signatures of Traditional Persian residential architecture such as biruni and andaruni.
Note : In traditional Persian residential architecture, the andaruni, is in contrast to the biruni, and is a part of the House in which the private quarters are established. This is specifically where the women of the House are free to move about without being seen by an outsider. The only men allowed in the Andaruni are those directly related to the Lord of the House (his sons) and the Lord himself, which may include boys under the age of puberty, and guests allowed in under special circumstances.
Absolutely beautiful building with Iranian architecture and magnificent ornaments that really, really fascinate me!😍
Izzat showing off his modelling talent - lol 😂
Checkout those walls and ceilings! Absolutely stunning! 😍
The last house we visited was the Abbasiyan Historical House
Abbasiyan Historical House is another famous and super grand historical house in Kashan.
Built during the late 18th century, the house is a another example of Kashani residential architecture. Built by the grandfather of Ayatollah Seyyed Muhammad Alavi Borojerdi, the house is a complex made in four wings and interrelated yards... really super grand!
A view from the upper level of the outer courtyard
The kids really enjoyed exploring (or rather finding a suitable place to selfie 😂) this house.
By the time we finished exploring this house (which is super huge! I tell ya!), all of us were already hungry. There is a traditional restaurant here in the Abbasiyan House that serves traditional Iran food.
We decided to check it out😘
On the way to the restaurant, we met lotsa local people who came to visit this house as well... a few asked we came from (I told ya Iranian are a friendly bunch! hehe)... and one of them requested to take wefie with me after I told them I am from Malaysia.

The Abbasi House Restaurant.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is very cosy and you get to experience traditional Persian eating at its best!
Makan bersila memang best la kan... cam kat rumah jer hehe.
Very, very relaxing and was loving it! 😍
The food we ordered.... mmmm.... yummmm!!!!😋😋
It tasted... weird to my tough lol! Well, am just not used to the saffron taste I guess... huhu!☺️
Overall, the restaurant was de bomb! Love the traditional atmosphere and the staff are super friendly too! They helped us to call a taxi... not only that... helped us by telling the local taxi driver who speak limited english to send us to the Fin Garden first, then to the hotel to pickup our luggage and later send us to the bus stand to get a bus to Isfahan. Very, very helpful!! 2 thumbs up!!!👍👍
Our adventure in Kashan to be continued later... stay tune :)
