Chichen-Itza - a ruined ancient Maya city

Finally, we arrived at Chichen-Itza! The highlights of today's trip! Another 7 wonders of the world you all!!!! I cannot believe that I visited TWO you all.... yes, TWO 7 wonders of the world this year!! Subhanalahh... I am so blessed...

Anyway, let's enjoy some of the pics I chose to save here in this blog...

The amazing ruins of Chichen Itza is believed to be a religious, military, political, and commercial centre of the Mayan empire.

It was pretty amazing to see this ancient pyramid-like building in real life... selalu tenguk gambar je kan :D Our tour guide (I forgot his name), was quite good... he gave us a lots of background on Chichen-Itza and Mayan culture. The history and the ancient architecture are absolutely interesting! If in Peru, we learnt on Incan history, here in Mexico, it's all about Mayan history.

This place is quite huge. Each complex/building has its own history. It was super hot here in Chichen-Itza. The sun is so intense, I tell you! Before the trip, we did some research on the internet and many people advised us to bring water, umbrella or cap, sun screen lotion and comfortable shoes - okay... all checked!

Temple of the Warriors

This is the Great Ball Court  of the Mayan - the main playing area. It was the largest and best preserved ball court in ancient Maya history. This was where they played 'Mesaomerican Ballgame' (I had to google this - so you all pun googledlah ya... Lol!) - a sport with ritual associations played by the people of ancient Mesoamerica. You don't want to loose in this game - or your head would be cut off!

That circle thingy... we were told was like a goal or something... I dunno... don't ask me how Mesoamerican Balgame is played Lol!

This stone is used to cut people's head. Yeap, that's what our guide told us.
Found a few of these in Chichen-Itza.

After about an hour of lesson on Mayan history, we were allowed to wander around for about an hour, before boarding on the bus to go back to Cancun. So yeap... more posing session allowed Lol!

We had such an amazing experience here in Chichen-Itza! Cichen-Itza is so majestic! We had to solat here before leaving this place. Can't find a private place to perform the solat... so solat je lah kat tepi jalan... ramai yang pandang2... hmmm... pandang tak pe... jangan buat kacau sudah... Lol!

Back to Cancun... it was already dark when we reached Cancun. Along the way back to Cancun, everybody in the bus got excited. It was like a party in the bus! They were given a taste of Tequila (kinda promotion for those who wanna buy a bottle of that drink) - aishhh.... of coz lah kami tak minum  tequila tu... haha. They even sang some classic Spanish songs along the way... memang happening and meriah lah dalam bus tu. Kok ado omak den sure marah ni... Maghrib2 memokak haha! Saspen juga takut yang ada mabuk and buat hal hahahaha! Tapi alhamdulillah... we safely arrived at Cancun Plaza apartment - tiada kejadian2 yang pelik, alhamdulillah...

Syukur alhamdulillah... another places in my bucket list was checkedoff. I think I got 2 shades darker after coming back from Chichen Itza haha! Seriously, it was scorching HOT!! Panas tak boleh bawak bincang haha! But yes, other than that it was an amazing day indeed.
