Today, we rented a car for a road trip around Cappadocia, outside Gerome. MIL chose not to follow as today’s activity was quite adventurous and require lots of walking and climbing.
Stopped by the road for photography. Not many cars on the road… we even got to pose in the middle of the road for a few pics 😅
Our first destination was Ihlara Valley.
It’s about 1.5 hours drive from Goreme.
We entered Ihlara Valley using the Museum Card again... no need to queue for ticket.
When we enter this place, the first thing that caught my eyes was this massive staircase at the visitor center that lead us to the canyon bottom. To go down the bottom memang la no problem but along the way while hiking, makcik dah nervous nak simpan tenaga untuk panjat balik tangga tu 😒
Once down the canyon bottom, we had a lovely walk.. hiked along the river with scenic nature view. Love the nature - the green environment, the river... so serene!
There are some old churches carved into the canyon walls that tourist can explore.
We walked around 3 - 4 kms before reaching a tea garden.
Thought we could rest and have our lunch here... but nampak macam nothing much sold here and the food pun tak kena dengan selera melayu kami haha! Belum lagi tanya price (which I was pretty sure quite high considering this is a tourist attraction kan)... so we decided to make a U-turn... makan kat outside lah...

We decided to use the opposite side of the river route to go back...
I actually took my time resting below the staircase before decided to go up...
oh my... as expected, memang somput makcik!!!!
By the time I reached at the top of the stairs... habis dah tenaga rasa haha!
Dah jommmmm.... cari makan!
Back in the Ihlara town, we found this cozy restaurant called Star Restaurant.
Cozy sangat... makan tepi sungai gitu...
Food was good... kena la dengan tekak melayu kami ni... haha.
We ordered trout grilled, special meat dish, mushroom garlic and lentil soup... all sedap! 😋
Price was reasonable too... alhamdulillah...
Happy faces - perut sudah kenyang... 😜
Jom balik.... back to Gerome Valley....
On the way home, we decided to drop by at Uchisar Kalesi @ Uchisar Castle.
Uchisar Castle is an amazing stone mountain castle - we did not enter the castle though as our Museum Card does not cover entrance for this castle. So jalan2 di luar castle saja ambil gambar...
Us with an ice-cream seller. He played Malaysian songs when he knew we are Malaysian.
Siap keluarkan jalur gemilang lagi! Pandai betul marketing strategy dia nak promote kami beli ice-cream dia kan... haha!
So jom la beli ice-cream dia... sedapp... yummm😋
I wanted to upload the video of this ice-cream man playing trick when preparing the ice-cream - but the video is a bit too long and causing lagging when I upload it... so tak pe lah. You can see the video in my IG ya 😉
The castle is located at the highest level of Gerome Valley... so we got to see a fantastic view of the entire valley 😍
That's a wrap for Day 6. Tomorrow would be our last day in Cappadocia...
